January Newsletter

January is a month where we hit the ground running! Here’s where we will begin:

Reading: We will finish the quarter by reading some additional survival stories in our reading book. Later in the month, we will read some Civil War stories as we prepare to begin our study of the Civil War. Miss Marianne will be reading Because of Winn Dixie to the class with an emphasis on journal response writing.

Grammar: Prepositions, quotations

Mathematics: Two digit division

Science: Matter, weather

Social Studies: Closing out our study of explorers, introducing events leading to the Civil War

The Super Bowl of Reading begins Monday, January 12th! Please encourage your child to read, read, read!

We will begin teacher/parent conferences the week of January 20. You will receive the schedule later this week. If you need to trade with someone, please notify me as soon as you have finalized your plans.
