I write in peaks and valleys.  Some days it goes really well and then, the next day I know that I should just sit and play gin rummy or go for a walk.  I try to work every day because if I don’t, things don’t happen so readily.

Expectations for

7th Grade English

·         that you will come to class prepared for each class meeting – that includes bringing whatever texts you have been assigned to bring to class so that you do not have to leave the classroom to go to your locker

·         that you will ALWAYS come to class with your writer’s notebook and a writing utensil – without fail!

·         that you will be seated with your reader response journal and your colored pencils ready for the read aloud

·         that you will listen to the read aloud and respond in good faith

·         that you will also be seated with the DGP, ready to work on it when assigned

·         that you will do your homework as assigned

Your homework always includes, but is not limited to:

ü  nightly reading

ü  3 Full page responses weekly in your writer’s notebook. It is imperative that you follow the guidelines for your notebook.

ü  3 vocabulary words listed and defined your reader-writer’s notebook, weekly

·         That you write in complete sentences using reasonable grammar.

·         that you complete all assignments to the best of your ability

·         that you abide by the honor statement set forth for this class and by the Honor Code of The Heritage School

It is my fervent hope that I can share my own love of reading and writing with you in such a way as to make both reading and writing inviting, intriguing, and worth your time and investment.  I also hope to build a community of learners and responders who respect each other and the thoughts and ideas of others.
