Tuition
What costs are not covered by tuition?
Tuition for pre-kindergarten through grade 4 includes all course, activity and supply fees. For grades 5 through 12, students purchase their own textbooks. Book costs vary according to courses taken. A $325 facilities depreciation fee is assessed to each student enrolled at The Heritage School.
Is there a discount for more than one child in the family?
For parents with more than one child enrolled in grades kindergarten through 12, tuition amounts are reduced by 5 percent for the second and subsequent children. Multi-student family discounts are not applicable for students enrolled in the prekindergarten and early childhood program.
What tuition payment plans are available?
A $500 tuition-reducing deposit is due when an enrollment contract is returned. The balance is payable by either the cash payment plan (June 1) or the monthly payment plan (July-May). Interest is charged to monthly accounts. Students re-enrolling are granted a discount if tuition is paid in full by early enrollment payment dates set by the business office.
How much additional fund-raising can be anticipated:
Like all independent schools, The Heritage School needs and seeks support beyond tuition. The cost of tuition covers approximately 90 percent of the cost of educating a student. The focus of our fund-raising is the Heritage Fund campaign, held each year with the goal of 100 percent family, board, and faculty participation. Your generous, tax-deductible gift to The Heritage Fund makes a difference in the lives of our students by providing direct funding for educational enhancements that tuition alone does not cover—and reflects your belief in and commitment to The Heritage School and its programs.
Is tuition assistance available?
The value of an independent school education is immeasurable, but some families need tuition assistance. The Heritage School administers a program of need-based tuition assistance beginning in the first grade. To be considered, families must complete the Parents’ Financial Statement and mail it to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). The school uses the service’s report, along with a submitted copy of the family’s most recently filed federal income tax return, when making financial aid decisions. We ask candidates to apply for tuition assistance as early as possible because funds are limited. Forms are available through the Admissions Office upon request.
