Knights Invitational Nash Farm Battlefield, Hampton

Heritage Cross Country teams run strongly at the Knight’s Invitational on a beautiful fall day.  It was sunny but windy day on the Nash Battlefield course, making it difficult for runners on some sections of the course.

The first race was the JV girls race with A. Snyder of Westminster Christian taking first place in 12:18 on the 2-mile course. Heritage’s B. Engel came in 6th place at 13:16 and was closely followed by teammate K. Jones ,7th place, at 13:18.

In the boys’ JV race, the Hawks were led by C. Shuman’s 8th place finish behind winner D. Ogle of Stratford (11:29). Hawks G. Warren, M. Nesmith, G. Newman and L. Walker helped push the Heritage to an 8th place finish overall.

At the Varsity level, the Hawks continued to see senior G. Pulsipher shine as one of the top runners in AA. He led early in the race to finish first on the 5K course in 16:48.  He was supported by several teammates in the top twenty.   Among them were J. Uglum (8th), T. Brander (9th), J. Prock (12th), D. Martin (17th), T. Brown (18th), D. Martin (19th), and R. Yancey (20th). Overall, the Hawks came in second behind Mount De Sales of Macon.

The Heritage Varsity girls’ team only had six runners on the day but it proved enough as they scored 53 points to edge Stratford Academy for first place. The Hawks were led by freshman R. Powell, who came in first at 20:41. Senior L. Brandner continued her string of season top ten finishes as she ran to third place. M. York (12th), K. Martin (17th), C. Heindel (22nd), and C.
