The Hawks came out on top in a fantastic football game against Southwest Georgia Academy, 30-28, improving their record to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the region. The offensive line of T. Bean, T. Nix, E. Smith, B. Dudley and R. Ebersbach played their best game to date and created lanes all night for the runningbacks. C. Rich ended the night with 127 yards and 2 touchdowns. D. Trammell had 67 yards on 15 tough carries. Quarterback J. Bonner had 58 yards on 16 carries with a touchdown while also connecting with R. Lynch for a 10-yard touchdown pass. Lynch ended the night with 59 yards receiving. Dudley was perfect on the night, going 3 for 3 in extra points, but his biggest play came when he knocked down a 21-yard field goal as time expired in the first half, giving us a 16-14 lead going into the break.
The defense was led by Trammell who seemed too much for the Warrior runners, ending the night with 13 tackles and also causing a fumble in the fourth quarter which the Hawks offense turned into a touchdown. Bonner proved to be the hero of the night, intercepting a pass in the endzone with 7 seconds left on the clock, sealing the deal for the Hawks.
Emotions were high and the Hawks would not be denied in this game. Thanks to the cheerleaders for leading the "rowdy" group of fans all night long. Hawks players and fans travelled 3 ½ hours and were louder than the home team on their homecoming night!
The Hawks will host Brookwood on October 28 in a game that will decide playoff seeding. A Hawk win will guarantee a playoff berth with a chance to host the first round.
