Big first and second inning provided most of the offense.  K. Roy led all hitters with a 5 for 5 performance.  J. Thames and B. Henson followed with 2 hits each.  L. Perdomo had a bases-loaded single that cleared the bases in the 4th.  All the girls played well.  It was a good win.

Sept 8 (Thu)
4:30 pm
Lagrange Away

The Hawks started out well. The score was 4 to 1 until LaGrange blew it open in the fourth with 6 runs on 4 hits in that inning.   LaGrange’s 3-run homerun over the right field fence was detrimental in the game.  Though the Lady Hawks played much better defense, they lost 1-10. Leading Hawks' hitters were K. Roy (2 for 2), A. Windom (1 for 3) and O. Gentry (1 for 2).

Sept 12 (Mon)
4:00 pm
Arlington Away

For the first time in the history of fastpitch at Heritage, the Lady Hawks defeated Arlington. The Hawks played great defense, pitched well, and hit well. The fourth inning was big, with C. Parker hitting a two-run triple and later scoring on K. Roy's single to open the botttom of the foruth with three runs. The sixth was great, too, when Parker walked to lead off the inning. Roy drove her in with a double. J. Thames walked. A. Windom drove in both Roy and Thames, then E. Massenburg drove in Windom with a single to end the scoring in the sixth. The Hawks scored three more in the seventh for insurance, winning 12-3. It was a great day.

Sept 13 (Tue)
4:30 pm
Flint River Home

Flint River is leading the region at this time, but the Hawks played extremely well, with timely hitting and good defense. The bottom of the seventh was exciting. Down three, K. Everett led off with a single. With two outs, K. Roy doubled to left, scoring Everett. J. Thames singled up the middle to score Roy. With one run down, A. Windom hit a hard ground ball that did not quite get through to end the game. Hawks lost by only 1 (6-7). It was a great game.

Massenburg, Roy, Henson and Windom did an outstanding job all day. Final score 12 – 6 Lady Hawks.

Holy Spirit walked 13 batters and hit 5. We only had 2 hits and they committed 2 errors. We scored 7 in the third. L. We scored 4 in the fourth to put the game out of reach with a 12 – 0 Mercy Rule final. Rochester and Roy combined to pitch a one hitter and faced only 14 batters in four innings. Everyone played today. The Lady Hawks record is now 8-8.

Sept 21 (Wed)

Arlington Home

Senior Day.
Great game against Arlington. The Hawks won 4-2.  Both teams played well.  Arlington scored two runs in the top of the first on two hits.  We scored one in the bottom of the first when J. Thames reached on an error, stole second, then moved to third when A. Windom reached on an error.  Thames scored on a pass ball.  We scored another run in the second when K. Everett reached on an error and K. Roy singled her in to score.  Defense was the name of the game until the sixth.  C. Harcourt and Everett made two incredible catches to save extra base hits.  A. Rochester pitched a terrific game, striking out 11 and giving up only 3 hits and walking one.  In the sixth, with two outs, Everett bunted her way on to first and C. Parker reached on a pinch hit error.  Everett scored on a pass ball to take the lead.  Roy hit a screaming ground ball through the left side to drive in Parker.  Rochester striked the side out in the top of the seventh.  The Lady Hawks won their third in a row - a nice ending for Senior Day.  Seniors Thames and Roy will definitely be missed.  They are true leaders.

Sept 26 (Mon)
4:30 pm
Griffin Christian Away

Griffin Christian had trouble throwing strikes. The Lady Hawks hit what was thrown at them. It was one of those days. Hawks won 24-0.

Sept 27 (Tue)
4:30 pm
Oak Mountain Away

Great way to finish the season. In the first inning, K. Roy led off with a triple to left, J. Thames walked, then stole second, A. Windom drove in Roy on a fielder's choice, leaving Thames on third. In the second, L. Perdomo walked, K. Everett was hit by a pitch and walked, C. Parker walked to load the bases, and Roy drove in two with a double. Oak Mountain scored three in the third to tie the game, and another one in the fourth to take the lead. The Hawks scored one in the fifth to tie it up when Thames singled, stole second, Windom was hit by a pitch, and R. Henson reached base on a fielder's choice that forced Thames. E. Massenburg and Perdomo walked, Everett drove in Windom on another FC. The Hawks held in the bottom of the fifth, and scored four in the sixth. C. Harcourt led off with a walk, Roy drove Harcourt in on her third extra base hit of the day, Thames singled in Roy, Windom walked, Massenburg walked, Perdomo singled in Thames, and Everett singled in Massenburg to end the scoring in the fourth. We squeaked a run in the seventh, when Harcourt walked, stole second, advanced to third on a pass ball and scored on Thames ground out.

K. Roy was exceptional on the bump, allowing only four runs on six hits and walking only one. She held Oak Mountain scoreless the last three innings.

The Lady Hawks ended the season with a winning record of 10 – 8. What a great year!
