The second game got a slow start, posting a score of only 2 – 0 (Hawks) after the first quarter. C. Jones and A. Gainwell took over on the offensive end scoring 13 in the second and the Hawks held Brookstone to 2 points the first half. Jones ended the game with 17 and Gainwell answered with 9 to lead all scorers. Middle School Hawks defeated Brookstone 36-14 and are now 4 – 0.

MS Boys: Defense, and C. Jones’s 12 first-half points of his game-high 16, set the tempo of the game. Up by 35 at the half and everyone having played, we were able to play different combinations of players. Total team defense allowed our transition game to develop. A. Gainwell scored 13 points, while C. Evans and K. Arnall chipped in with 11 each. Everyone had several floor time minutes. Final score was 63-26.
Boys' B Team: Balanced scoring, good team defense, and rebounding allowed the younger players to pull ahead tonight. H. Burns, H. Thomas, E. Lawrence, C. Ayers, and A. Kirby played pressure defense all night, while M. Griffin, R. Vandersluis, and R. Blackstone controlled the boards. Hawks won 30-12.

THS Christmas Tournament (MS Boys) |
Home |
MS Boys defeated Heard County 62-44. Defensive pressure caused trouble for Heard. The Hawks outscored them 23 – 10 in the first quarter. C. Evans had 10 of his 17 points in the first quarter while C. Jones and A. Gainwell added 12 and 9 during the first half. With a half time lead of 41 to 13, our second and third teams were able to get some floor time. Group two and three struggled against a bigger and faster Heard team in the third quarter. Group one came back in and sealed the deal.
Total team effort was the reason for the 47-35 MS Boys victory over a bigger Landmark team. Great team passing and clutch shooting by M. Jeffreys and A. Gainwell provided a great first half. The Hawks led 28 – 15, but could not put them away. The Hawks would push the lead out to 15 and Landmark would cut it back to 8. Again defense and rebounding against a bigger Landmark team was the name of the game. This team was our toughest competition yet. L. Betts, C. Evans, and A. Gainwell continue to put pressure on teams with their defense, while C. Jones and Jeffreys get rebound after rebound. |

The Hawks defeated LGA 60-25. This Middle School team works well together. Everything the team tried worked. A. Gainwell and C. Jones, with 14 and 12 points, respectively, led all scorers, but almost everyone scored. H. Burns had the best assist of the night. He stole a pass, drove the length of the floor, and just before shooting a lay up, he saw an open man and made a pass for a score. That is what teamwork is about. Everyone played well.
MS Girls: The MS Lady Hawks won a big game against LaGrange 24-21. Everyone played well. K. Everett led the scoring with 9 points.
