The Heritage Writers' Gallery
The National Day on Writing - Gallery Opens October 20, 2009
Author Sarah McCoy tells us that “a day without writing is like a day without food."
Is she right? Whether we call it writing a letter, jotting a note, texting, IMing, blogging, making a business presentation, creating a video, journaling, creating a sales pitch, writing poetry, penning a novel, making a brochure, or just writing a memo, the world is writing like never before! There is much talk of modern competencies that today’s children need to succeed in their future, but the age-old skill of writing may be the quintessential 21st century skill.
On October 20th, America will celebrate the National Day on Writing. The Gallery of Writing is comprised of one national gallery, 22 partner galleries, and over 1300 local galleries. The Heritage School is thrilled to be accepted as a member of these galleries.
On that day, writers all across the country will pause to share their work, and Heritage is excited to take part! We will display work from our students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni online at the National Gallery of Writing.
This means we need you!
We would like everyone to submit a piece to The Heritage Writers Gallery. It can be a letter you wrote to your mother, a poem you wrote in high school, a special thought you had today, a brochure you wrote for your business, a PowerPoint presentation, or anything you are proud of having written at any time in your life.
We need submissions by October 20th, the day our gallery opens its virtual doors. However, we will continue to take submissions throughout the school year and urge everyone to continue writing and submitting work.
To submit your work, please go to http://galleryofwriting.org/galleries/235272. Click the “Contribute to this Gallery” button at the bottom of the page and follow the prompts. It is quite simple.
Return to the gallery frequently so you can watch the growth demonstrated as we progress as writers throughout the year.
We can’t wait to show off your talents!
